The Perry Effect

The Perry Effect is a 50 page-long work of independent research that was the culmination of individual research on the effect of mass media upon cultural representations of minority and oft-stereotyped groups. The work examines the films of prolific African-American filmmaker Tyler Perry. After assessing the various responses and reactions to his films from both within and without the target demographic and community, it analyzes the net effect of those films upon the national reading and representation of African-Americans within US consciousness.

The Perry Effect was completed under the advisement of Abdellah Hammodi, PhD.
